Training Opportunities

CMHC, Inc. provides placements for healthcare professionals seeking HRSA (http://www.hrsa.gov/loanscholarships/index.html) student loan repayment placements.  Our Nevada, Butler, and Harrisonville sites are ranked above a 15 and are generally funded in the first annual round.

We provide the following psychology training programs:    1.  Pre-doctoral internships in Clinical and Counseling Psychology, 2. Post-doctoral residencies in family psychology, addictions psychology, neuropsychology, medical psychology and psychopharmacology preceptorships, and general clinical and counseling psychology.  Contact Dr. Morris, email: cmhcjerry@sbcglobal.net for application information.

We provide master's level LCSW and LPC and LMFT post graduate residencies for provisionally licensed mid-level professionals wanting specialized rural clincal residency training.  Contact Amy Bradley, MSW, LCSW or Shannon Hiser, MS, LPC, CSAC at 816-380-4010 for information about application.

We provide two year training residencies in Substance Abuse Counseling for qualification as a certified substance abuse counselor.  For information on admission contact JB Woolvertion, MSACII at 417-667-8352.

We provide preceptorships for psychiatric nurse practitoners.

Our Medical Psychology and Psychopharmacology preceptorship meets the guidelines for psychologists seeking board certification by the American Board of Medical Psychology (www.amphome.com ) or the American Board of Behavioral Healthcare Practice  (http://abbhp.org/ ).  Doctors of psychology must have completed a training program (cirtificate or graduate degree program) in psychopharmacology and have advanced training and experience in medical psychology, behavioral healthcare, health psychology, or hospital and facility based clinical or counseling psychology as a prerequsite for entry into our program.  The resident will be supervised by a board certified Medical Psychologist and board certified Behavioral Heathcare Practitioner who is also a holder of the APA Proficiency in Addictions.  The program is a combination of Skype individual and group supervision of cases and program participation in the residents practice and through internet face-to-face supervision approved by many states, scheduled site visits where the resident engages with multidisciplinary staff of psychologists, social workers, physicians, and nurses and substance abuse counselors to evaluate and treatment plan comprehensive treatment plans including psychological and neuropsychological testing and assessment, psychotherapy and technique selection, medication selection and monitoring, and linkages and referrals in hospital, primary care, and CMHC settings.  Study materials including monographs, selected articles, slides and online presentations are provided.  Admission to the program is free for Academy of Medical Psychology (www.amphome.com ), and the national practitoner association (www.nappp.org ) members.
